Digirank brings together strategic, technical and creative minds in order to generate the best possible results for our clients.

We specialise in working with businesses who feel stuck and frustrated through lack of growth, and have reached a point where they wish to propel their business forward. They require a completely fresh approach to identify ways in which they can expand their share of existing markets or appeal to a new audience.

When we start working with clients, the first thing we do is spend time with them to make sure we completely understand their business and the industry they operate in. We work closely with the leaders of our clients businesses, challenging their existing thinking and exploring new and creative ways to connect with appropriate audiences. We work with them to continually review and optimise their business development strategy and maximise their long-term success.

Once we have a really clear understanding of who our clients are and what their goals are, we develop a fully bespoke online marketing strategy to help them get there. We use a range of techniques, from paid search advertising to content marketing and website optimisation to ensure that clients meet and exceed their business growth targets.

We do not have a sales force. We, the directors of the business, work with prospective clients. A key reason for this being that we only want to work with clients where we genuinely believe we can add significant value and build a successful long-term relationship. Using a sales team makes it much harder to control this focus.

The members of the Digirank team are inquisitive, and spend a huge amount of time listening – to our clients, their audiences and the wider online marketing industry. All our work is fuelled by passion and creative ideas.

Our team combine their expertise of online marketing with our clients knowledge of their business and industry. They work as a part of our clients business and are truly invested in generating significant results for them.

Nicola Ellison Founder and Director

After 13 years in London (Monster, Thomson Holidays), Nicola founded Digirank in 2009 and has gone on to build a successful, growing agency which offers a bespoke online marketing service for local and national clients.

Nicola is focused on finding and partnering with ambitious clients to help maximise their potential online. Nicola will be one of the first points of contact for any new client, as she and her team will spend time with you getting to know your business. She takes an active, ongoing role in all client strategies, leading an expert team to deliver effective client campaigns.

Nicola is a northerner who’s happily adopted Bristol as her home. She loves Bristol for its beautiful architecture, and its proximity to the beautiful Cotswold’s countryside, the Big Smoke and the coast.

Katie Newcombe Director

Katie is a passionate and focused marketer with 10 year’s experience in the online world. Having previously worked client side, both as a graphic designer and online marketer, Katie brought a wealth of marketing experience to the Digirank table when she joined in 2009. Over the following years, Nicola and Katie worked together to build the Digirank team, grow the client base and develop the company identity.

Katie loves finding and building long-lasting relationships with new clients – getting to know their business, their aims and what makes them tick. Working alongside the client management team, Katie helps develop tailored strategies for new and existing clients to ensure continual success.

Seeing clients maximise their online potential is a real buzz for Katie. She also likes being kept on her toes, adapting to a constantly changing digital world.

Katie sees Bristol as a forward-thinking city with a real creative edge. She loves the mix of people and the amazing dogs! You can usually find her at Boston Tea Party drinking coffee or enjoying a hot yoga class.

Karen has over 7 years of marketing experience as well as a Marketing and French degree.

Karen enjoys applying traditional marketing and consumer behaviour theories to the online world.

She loves meeting with businesses and really getting to know businesses and their goals. When she has a good understanding of a business Karen continuously thinks of unique and innovative ways to help businesses grow and flourish online. She creates dynamic online marketing strategies to achieve the best possible results for Digirank’s clients, making them money and keeping them happy.

Karen loves the innovative and entrepreneurial side of Bristol. She loves the experiences different areas of Bristol and you will often find her exploring Bristol in her running shoes or relaxing in a local café.

Tom Spooner Account Manager

With a background in journalism, copywriting and a passion for all things digital, Tom loves how creative content can have genuine impact online. He specialises in delivering innovative strategies to empower businesses online and communicate their brand personality in original ways.

Tom will help strategise, plan and deliver great content to the audiences that matter to client’s businesses. In order to do this he spends time building genuine relationships on social media and beyond. Success for Tom is all about seeing strategic and highly creative content connecting with people and getting real-life results for his clients.

As a live music fanatic, Tom is very much at home in Bristol and enjoys the many amazing independent venues and shops. You can find him at gigs across the city and hunting out kitsch in dark and dusty corners.

Hannah Gardiner Account Manager

Hannah brings together 3 year’s of PPC experience along with a genuine passion for content that developed during her Journalism Degree. Hannah also completed Google’s specialised digital marketing qualification, ‘Squared’ in 2013. She relishes the challenge of making content exciting, even if the subject’s not immediately interesting.

Hannah enjoys being creative with content and then analytical, technical and fast-paced with PPC. She loves combining online marketing techniques in order to get the best overall results for the client. Hannah takes great pleasure in reporting successes to clients, knowing how her work can so heavily benefit their entire business.

Bristol provides numerous opportunities for Hannah to dig around in charity shops making for many a wonderful weekend. All of her favourite clothes are pre-loved.

Jimmy MacGregor Technical Specialist

Jimmy’s background is in writing, with an MA in Creative Writing, but over the four years he has been working in SEO, he has moved towards the technical side of things. SEO allows Jimmy to use his writing experience and understanding of digital technology in a way that is useful for Digirank clients and the clients’ users.

Jimmy loves working with clients to help them get their hard-won knowledge across clearly, and make a real contribution to public understanding of their industry.

Working in Bristol is ideal for Jimmy because there are so many creative and driven professionals to work with and learn from. Living in Bristol is even better, as there is always something going on and it usually starts here in Stokes Croft.

Tanya is an expert in delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns, and has worked in a number of industries including publishing, retail, and the third sector.

Having spent the last two years of her working life as a Commissioning Editor for a craft magazine, Tanya takes a very creative approach to online marketing and loves the endless possibilities the digital world has to offer. From app development to vlogging, Tanya has experience in creating a diverse range of digital content, but her real expertise lies in social media and creating highly engaged online communities.

There’s a real creative energy in Bristol, especially Stokes Croft, and the sense that, if you have an idea, then this is the city in which you can make it happen. Although born a Londoner, Tanya is a Bristol gal by heart. And, like a true Bristolian, likes her cider flat and cloudy, and her fashion ship-shape.

Five and a half years after Digirank was born, we started to feel as though we were outgrowing our identity. Developments in the industry and the fact that our team had grown meant that we were no longer the company that we started as!

We’d grown up. We’d worked out what it is that we’re really good at!

So after a few months of strategy sessions, tricky questions and lots of brain power, we eventually defined what Digirank meant to us. These thoughts turned into words and images which fed into the designs for our new logo and website.
